Cabinet spokesman Minister Vijitha Herath refuted reports about the new government printing money during a weekly briefing today. He stated that the government has neither printed money nor borrowed from foreign countries or institutions.
Herath explained that if any money had been printed, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, in his capacity as Finance Minister, would have had to sign the currency notes. He pointed out that no such signed notes have been issued.
