The government will provide motorcycles to 2,900 Public Health Midwives in December as part of efforts to strengthen community-level healthcare services, Health Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa announced.
The announcement was made as appointment letters were presented to 1,056 newly recruited Public Health Midwives at Temple Trees.
The new recruits, who completed 18 months of training, will be deployed to hospitals and health institutions across the country.
A total of 2,071 Public Health Midwives have been recruited to the public service over the past two years, including those recruited in March. (Newswire)
