Had UDV contested all districts it would have won a NL seat – Iwan Hemachandra

Former Colombo District candidate Iwan Hemachandra of the United Democratic Voice (UDV) party said that if the UDV party contested for all the districts in the General Election, it would definitely have had the opportunity to win a national list (NL) seat.

Hemachandra mentioned this while speaking to the media regarding the upcoming political plans of the party.

He said that for the first time, as a party, they contested in nine districts in a General Election and obtained a high number of votes and had they contested in all districts they would most definitely have had the chance of acquiring a national list Parliamentary seat.

Hemachandra also said that the results have shown that the United Democratic Voice Party, as a new party, had a high acceptance and liking of the people in comparison with the main parties and it will increase even more in the next election.

He said that the people are already asking his party to compete in upcoming elections and said that the people’s appreciation for the party is being confirmed.
