Harsha, Hasini excel at Novices and Intermediate TT

Harsha Kashyapa of Vidyartha College Kandy and Hasini Dullewa of Hillwood College Kandy excelled at the All Island Novices and Intermediate Table Tennis championships concluded over the week end at Municipal Council Indoor Stadium,Kegalle in collaboration with Sabaragamuwa Province TTA.

Kashyapa won Intermediate men’s title with defeating Senul Ratnayake of Dharmaraja after making three setter game 11/9. 7/11, 11/1. In addition Kashyapa won two more titles Novices men’s and boys under 19.

At the Novices men’s final Kashyapa defeated same opponent Senul Ratnayake with 11/9, 13/11 while at the boys under 19 final Kashyapa outclassed Himeth Hewasinghe of Ananda 11/8, 11/6.

Meanwhile 14-year-old Hasini Dullewa emerged Intermediate women’s champion when she defeated Binadi Savindula of Viharamaha Devi MMV. Hasini completed her second title while she was defeating Roshen Arnolda of St Anthonys Katugastota at the under 15 girls final. Hasini emerged runner up at the Novices women’s category while she lost to Navodya Munasinghe.

Nalandian Kenura Silva the younger brother of National champion Senura was winner of the boys under 9 final when he defeated Senon Dulith of Dharmasoka at the final.

Shenella Shavindri (Holy Cross Gampaha) won the girls under 9 title while Dinula Attanayake (Bandaranayake C.C Kegalle) and Melisha Anthony (Good Shepard Convent) won boys and girls under 11 titles. Akian Suranga and Veenara Punsiri won the boys and girls under 13 finals while Bimsara Rathnayake of Maliyadeva won the boys under 15 final.

Amila Udara and Disali Ranasinghe were able to win the boys and girls under 17 titles while Disali completed her double with winning girls under 19 title. (D.R)
