HC Kananathan confirms SL’s exit from Tanzania’s referral visa process

High Commissioner Kana Kananathan stated that following persistent diplomatic efforts by the Sri Lanka’s Foreign Affairs Ministry and the High Commission in Kenya, along with discussions with the Tanzanian Government, Sri Lanka has been officially removed from the referral visa list. This policy had been in place for more than two decades for entry into Tanzania by Sri Lankans. This notable achievement means that, Sri Lankans who wish to visit Tanzania can now apply for regular visas online, without the additional procedures and extended waiting times that were previously required under the referral visa process. This change will make travel significantly easier and more convenient for all Sri Lankans planning to visit Tanzania for business, tourism, or other reasons.

Kananathan expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the Tanzanian Government for this positive outcome and reaffirms its commitment to further strengthening the bilateral relations between our two nations. This accomplishment reflects the strong partnership and mutual respect that exists between Sri Lanka and Tanzania.

HC Kananathan encourages all Sri Lankans to take advantage of this opportunity and to continue upholding the high standards of conduct that have always been the hallmark of our community abroad.
