In a significant move to ensure the continuous supply of high-quality and standardised medicines to Sri Lanka’s public health system, as well as to regulate fair pricing in the open market, Health and Media Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa has appointed new members to the National Advisory Committee on Medicines and the National Medicines Appeals Committee under the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA).
Justice Vijith Malalgoda, former Supreme Court Judge, has been appointed as the Chairman of the National Medicines Appeals Committee.
Professor Lal Jayakody has been appointed as the Chairman of the National Advisory Committee on Medicines. He is also a former chairman of the NMRA.
The appointment letters were presented at the NMRA Headquarters by Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa.
