Health Ministry’s Additional Secretary Dr. Saman Ratnayake said yesterday (25) that the Ministry decided to make emergency purchases of more than 300 medical equipment to address the shortage of dental equipment.
He also said that urgent tenders will be called under the State Pharmaceutical Corporation to purchase these equipment. He also said that due to the lack of suppliers to provide dental equipment, there has been a shortage of dental equipment in Government hospitals.
He stated that due to the lack of dental equipment, the patients are facing difficulties and these purchases will be made and steps will be taken to provide the health services properly. He said that almost 1,000 hospitals across the country provide dental services and thousands of patients visit Government hospitals daily to get such services.
