The Department of Meteorology has issued a heat advisory for parts of the country, warning that the heat index is likely to reach the “Caution Level” during daytime hours.
The advisory covers the Eastern Province and the districts of Kilinochchi, Mullaittivu, Vavuniya, Polonnaruwa and Monaragala.
According to the Department, the heat index, which reflects the temperature felt by the human body, is expected to increase to caution levels in some areas.
The public has been advised to take precautions to minimise the effects of heat exposure and remain adequately hydrated during the daytime. (Newswire)
