Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 75 mm is expected in several parts of Sri Lanka on Saturday, October 3, according to the Department of Meteorology.
In its weather forecast issued at 5.30 a.m., the department said showers or thundershowers are expected at several places across most parts of the island after 1 p.m.
Fairly heavy falls exceeding 75 mm are likely at some locations in the Central, Sabaragamuwa, Western, Uva, North-western, Southern and North-central provinces, as well as in the Mannar District.
The public has been advised to take adequate precautions to minimise damage caused by temporary strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Meanwhile, misty conditions are expected at some locations in the Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces during the early morning hours.
