Hector Appuhamy appointed Chair of SOC on Foreign Employment and Labour

Parliamentarian Hector Appuhamy was appointed as the Chair of the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Foreign Employment and Labour, unanimously, in Parliament recently.

The first meeting of the Committee was held recently. Parliamentarian Samanpriya Herath proposed the name of the Chair and Parliamentarian S.M. Marikkar seconded it.

Appuhamy, as the new Chair, stated that institutes such as the Employees’ Provident Fund and Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau and the Labour and Foreign Employment Ministry be called before the Committee for the purpose of presenting their action plan and the budget plan.

Members of Parliament M.W.D. Sahan Pradeep Withana, Ishak Rahuman, Samanpriya Herath, S.M. Marikkar and Faizal Cassim were present at the Committee meeting.
