Hendala Buddha Jayanthi Maha Perahera, which commemoration started with the Buddha’s 2500th Sri Sambuddha Jayanthi, has been organised for the 67th time on Saturday, December 14th on Unduwap Full moon Poya night.
The Perahara Route will commence at Hendala Purana Viharaya, and proceed to Hendala Main Road to Hendala Junction, travel on Old Negombo Road, turn right near Sampath Bank, follow New Negombo Road, come back to Hendala Junction, turn to Hendala Road and pay for the temple.
Along with this grand procession, two Peraheras have also been organised on December 12 and December 13, commencing 7 pm.
This Perahera has been organised by the Hendala Buddha Jayanthi Society, under the auspices of Ven Higgoda Chandima Thera, Chief Incumbent, Ven Ullala Amita Nahimi, Honourable Incumbent and Ven Balakawala Wimala Thera, Administrator of Hendala Purana Viharaya.
