Hiruka guides Colombo South to take Prima Cup

Opener Hiruka Silva hit a superb knock of 61 in 100 balls with 6 fours guided the Colombo South team to beat the Colombo North team by 3 wickets to emerge champions at the Sri Lanka Cricket Junior (under 15) League tournament final played at the MCA grounds Wijerama Mawatha on Wednesday.

Ceylon Agro Industries makers of “Prima” once again sponsored this tournament while five teams Colombo, South, Colombo North, Kandy, Galle and Dambulla competed in this tournament for the Prima Cup.

Colombo South chasing a target of 149 runs made it comfortably while they scored 151 for 7 wickets in 45.5 overs to seal the victory. Colombo North scored 148 for 8 wickets while Rachintha de Silva (45) and Oshada Pamuditha(35) made useful contributions.

Rashen Nawanjana 3 for 20 and Thenusha Yapa 2/30 took bowling honours for the Colombo South side. Hiruka Silva was leading the victory with a fine knock while Thevidu Wewalwala made a good supporting role scoring 20 while Kithma Sithmal and Lahiru Lakmal captured two wickets each.

Sajith Gunaratne General Manager Marketing Ceylon Agro Industries, SLC tournament Committee Chairman Samantha Dodanwela and Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association President Thilak Waththuhewa were present at the presentation ceremony.
