Hockey materials donated for Isipathana under 14 team

Isipathana College, which has produced many National players in the field of Hockey, Kaushal and Rajpal Amuhengoda, who were famous Hockey players during their playing time has come forward to donate Hockey sticks and bags to the under 14 team, where they are currently participating in the ongoing under 14 all Island Hockey tournament in Kandy.

At the ongoing under 14 all Island Hockey tournament, 36 teams are scheduled to participate at this tournament, which is divided into six groups and Isipathana College under 14 Hockey team is drawn in group “B” along with Zahira College Matale, St. Thomas College Matara, D.S. Senanayake College Colombo, Bandaranayake College Gampaha and Vijitha College Galle.

Isipathana College under 14 Hockey team Captained by Mandev Ranasinghe, who had the distinction of Captaining the under 14 team last year too has won all their league matches and emerged Champions in their respective group beating Zahira College Matale by one goal to nil, Vijitha College Galle by six goals to nil, Bandaranayake College Gampaha by three goals to nil and D.S. Senanayake College also by three goals to nil and now qualify to the quarter final knock out stage. St.Thomas College Matara was a notable absentee at this tournament.

Principal, Oshara Panditharatne, who is taking a keen interest to develop the game of Hockey in School is much thankful to Kaushal and Rajpal Amuhengoda for the donation of the Hockey materials to the under 14 team. All credit has to go to Head Coach Praveen Chanaka, who was also a reputed Hockey player has done yeoman service by doing a wonderful job to keep the standard of Hockey as in the past.
