Member of under 18 champion team in 2019 at the Schools Tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Hockey Association, Member of the champion under 21 National Schools Tournament, Member of the 2022 champion team of open club tournament and captain of the recently conducted National Schools Champion Team of Hockey Championship 2022 Sanjana Mendis has brought honour and immense glory to her alma mater Holy Family Convent Wennappuwa with her deeds in the hockey field.
In the meantime her Parents Jude Prasantha Mendis and Chandani Jayashanthi Femando insisted their daughter to take up to Hockey and handed over her to the School Hockey Coach Milan Boteju. Same year participating for the under 18 schools tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Hockey Association in Anuradhapura Familians clinched the Trophy In the National Sports Festival Tournament competing in the under 21 category they emerged champions and in 2020 National Sports Festival Tournament held at Wennappuwa they won the Trophy and in 2020 and 2021 they had to keep away from sports activities due to Coronavirus and at the under 20 Hockey Nationals in 2022 they grabbed the trophy and in the Open Club Hockey Tournament they cliched the trophy and she captained the recently held All Island National Schools Girls Hockey Tournament and won convincingly against Janadhipathi Vidyalaya Nawala and this is the first ever instance that Holy Family Convent won the All Island National Schools title conducted by the Ministry of Education. Former Familian Principal Rev. Sister Priyanganie was a tower of strength to her Hockey career and the Present Principal Rev. Sister Shilani Pavo too is supportive Sanjana was a member of the Hockey squad for the Indonesian tour in 2022.
