Housewives suffering brunt of economic mismanagement – Kongahage

Kandy District UNP Bala Mandala Chairperson Shanthini Kongahage says that housewives are suffering the brunt of the Government’s economic mismanagement.

She said that on the one hand, the prices of goods have gone up beyond the means of the people, and on the other hand, gas stoves have started exploding while the Government does not seem to be interested in providing a solution to any of these problems.

Kongahage was speaking at a media briefing held at the UNP office in Kandy on Sunday (2). “The Government has become a laughing stock today. When the people continuously request for the reduction of the prices of vegetables, gas, sugar, milk and other essential commodities, the Government keeps on increasing the prices. As a result, the country has entered a queue era again,” she added.

Moreover, she added that when the price of fuel in the world market goes down, the Government increases fuel prices. “When the price of petrol and diesel increases, the price of other goods also goes up automatically. Government economists do not understand this.
