I can adjust to any situation, says Nuwanidu

“I can cope with any situation but always adjust to build up my innings said Nuwanidu Fernando the Galle Gladiators promising stroke maker who had a fluent knock of an unbeaten 63 in 42 balls with three fours and five sixes in the game against Dambulla Aura last Monday.

I had a plan to play the full quota of 20 overs and my aim was to increase our run rate and put up a good challenge against opponents in this deciding game. We knew run rate was important to qualify for the play off game and finally we did it in great style, said Nuwanidu Fernando the former St. Sebastian’s, Moratuwa batting star.

I knew in the T-20 format we have to bat at any position. Normally I used to play in the top order at my club SSC but in this LPL I have to play as a middle order batter. I have to play for the team and realized my duty as a batter. From my school days I always like to bat in an aggressive mood and this is very good for this T-20 format said Nuwanidu the younger brother of Vishwa Fernando who is a National left arm paceman who prefers Test cricket.

“My duty is to make more runs and my coach Moin Khan always advised me to play attacking cricket to build up a good total and we realized our duty is to play the game. I already made two half centuries at this LPL and hope to do well in the next important games. I was in the National squad in the T-20 format but never want to be labelled as a one format player”.

My brother Vishwa always encourages me and my parents’ support is more important. We have to go on a long journey and match exposure is very important. But I have no special targets but like to remain a long time in the National side. I always remember my school coach Malka Fernando and all other coaches who supported me.
