A 40-year-old man has been arrested in the Moonamale area of Kilinochchi for allegedly transporting 22 cattle illegally in a lorry without a valid permit, Police said.
The arrest was made yesterday after officers attached to the Sri Lanka Police in Kilinochchi acted on a tip-off and intercepted the vehicle during a raid.
Police said the suspect is a resident of Kekirawa.
One of the cattle was found dead at the time of the arrest, according to Police.
Further investigations are being carried out by Kilinochchi Police. (Newswire)
