IMF Board to review Sri Lanka programme today

The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is scheduled to consider the fifth and sixth reviews of Sri Lanka’s programme under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) today (27).

The Board is expected to evaluate Sri Lanka’s progress under the programme, with approval set to enable the country to access approximately USD 700 million in financial assistance.

Earlier, the Director of the IMF’s Communications Department said that the implementation of cost-recovery pricing mechanisms for electricity and fuel, alongside adequate protection for vulnerable groups, remained a key condition for approval of the reviews. (Newswire)
