Inauguration of ‘Clean Sri Lanka’ programme today

The ‘Clean Sri Lanka’ programme is scheduled to be inaugurated today (01) at the Presidential Secretariat under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

This initiative aims to create a morally and environmentally sustainable nation by fostering a cleaner and more ethical society.

The programme envisions a broad national effort, transcending political and communal differences, to instil attitudinal, behavioural, and qualitative changes among citizens. Its goal is to create a nation enriched with new values, ensuring better living standards for all its citizens under the vision of ‘A Prosperous Nation – Beautiful Lives’.

In line with the ‘Clean Sri Lanka’ initiative, the Public Administration, Provincial Councils, and Local Government Ministry has issued a special a circular calling on ministry secretaries, provincial chief secretaries, departmental heads, and heads of public institutions to commence their duties for the new year in unison, under a cohesive policy framework, and with a commitment to delivering an efficient and productive public service.  As part of the inaugural event, all Government institutions and offices are directed to organise simultaneous ceremonies starting at 8:30 am. These will include hoisting the national flag, singing the National anthem, observing two minutes of silence to honour fallen heroes, and live participation in the ‘Clean Sri Lanka’ pledge, broadcast at 9:00 am from the Presidential Secretariat. Public Administration, Provincial Councils, and Local Government Ministry Secretary S. Aloka Bandara emphasised in an official notice that these activities symbolise a unified effort across the public sector to meet citizens’ aspirations and enhance the efficiency of State services under the ‘Clean Sri Lanka’ initiative.
