Indian businessman arrested with gold biscuits at BIA

Airport Criminal Investigation Department has nabbed a passenger who was waiting at Katunayake Airport Transit Terminal with a stock of gold biscuits worth around 30 million rupees hidden in his trouser pocket.

The is a 29-year-old man is a businessman from India and is said to be a frequent flyer.

He had come from Chennai, India on September 06 and was slated to  leave for Bangalore, India on September 07. The criminal investigation department officials found nine gold biscuits weighing 01 kg and 158 grams and another 03 pieces of gold biscuits in a small bag in a pocket of his trousers. He had been arrested after the detection.

At present, steps have been taken to hand over this person and the gold biscuits in his possession to the Katunayake airport customs officials for further investigation.
