The Industry TV was launched yesterday as Sri Lanka’s first electronic television channel for the industry in order to build an export-oriented manufacturing economy in the country.
The opening ceremony was held at the Government Information Department under the patronage of Industry and Health Minister Dr.Ramesh Pathirana and Small and Medium Enterprise Development State Minister Prasanna Ranaweera.
Launched in conjunction with World Television Day, this channel will be broadcast on Peo TV No. 130 and will operate under the theme ‘Your Winning Line’.
The introductory broadcast will run from November 21 to November 30, and from December 1, Industry News, Industry Talks, Work Spaces, Plus Mind, Help Desk, Entrepreneurship King Children, Industrial Zone, Money Talk, I Book, Brands, Investor Pool, Metal World, Tea Life, Plantation World, Travel Bazar, Business Shakthi, Business Clinic, Industry Frame etc. 40 different types of programs are included for broadcasting in Industry TV channel.
This project has been jointly organized by the Industry Ministry and the Industrial Development Board.
Speaking on this occasion, Minister Dr.Ramesh Pathirana said that in order for a country to develop, there must be a strong and stable industrial system in the country and for this, many programs have been implemented through the Ministry of Industry and the Ceylon Industrial Development Board with the aim of creating a new industrial culture in our country.
In order to guide the local budding entrepreneurs, two training manuals named Start up and Scale up prepared by the Sri Lankan Industrial Development Board’s Sustainable Business Development Initiative (SEDA) were launched and the national programme of making entrepreneurs socially proud was launched for the first time in Sri Lanka. A certificate, a professional ID card and a car pass were also given here.
Also, for the 2023 National Industry Excellence Awards ceremony, the appreciation awards were presented by Industry and Health Minister Dr.Ramesh Pathirana to the jury that selected 300 businessmen for the awards out of 4,000 businessmen. Apart from that, the factories that have contributed to the advancement of the manufacturing industry in Sri Lanka by using the world’s new technology in their products were also evaluated here.
