Injury Blow: Matheesha Out, Dilshan in Line, Wanindu Under Review

Sri Lanka fast bowler Matheesha Pathirana is set to miss the remainder of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup after suffering a left calf strain during the win over Australia in Pallekele.

Pathirana limped off after bowling just four deliveries and later travelled to Colombo for scans. Initial assessments indicate he could be sidelined for up to four weeks.

He becomes the third Sri Lankan player ruled out of the tournament after Eshan Malinga and Wanindu Hasaranga.

Selectors are expected to name left-arm seamer Dilshan Madushanka as his replacement ahead of the Super Eight stage.

However, no official announcement has yet been made by Sri Lanka Cricket. (Newswire)
