Vice Chancellor of Lincoln Institute of Graduate Studies Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage said that innovation is a key factor of any country since it paves the way for sustainable development.
With a view to create positive trends towards innovative sustainable development, Lincoln University College, Malaysia, in collaboration with Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine, organised an International Multidisciplinary Conference, under the theme of ‘Innovation and Sustainable Development’ at Lincoln Institute of Graduate Studies, Kohuwala, on August 25 and 26.
The theme of the conference inspired the participants to explore the delicate balance between innovative advancements and the urgent need for research to safeguard our planet. This event was a memorable journey, where the future is re-imagined through the lens of responsibility and creativity.
This joint approach of both universities created a remarkable platform for emerging and experienced innovators to disseminate their findings and receive expert feedback to grow in their fields of study.
The conference that aimed to foster interdisciplinary dialogue, bridging the gap between traditional wisdom and modern advancements, particularly in the context of developing nations like Sri Lanka, was addressed by 85 presenters in the fields of Medicine, Science and Technology, Management, Computer Science, Education and Social Sciences.
The success of this conference encouraged the academic staff and the management of Lincoln Institute of Graduate Studies to make this an annual event and to provide more local and international opportunities for many more researchers to grow in their fields of study.
In four sessions of the proceedings, the keynote addresses were delivered by Vice Chancellor of Lincoln Institute of Graduate Studies Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, Dean of the Faculty of Management Studies at the Open University Prof. Nalin Abeysekara, Chairman of Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation Prof. Sudantha Liyanage, Head of the Department of Finance at the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce of University of Sri Jayewardenepura Prof. Chandana Gunathilaka.
The event was also graced by Prof. Prashanthi Narangoda, Director of the National Centre for Advanced Studies in Humanities and Social Sciences, Vice Chancellor of the Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine Prof. Ranjana Seneviratne, Director International, Lincoln University College Malaysia Dr. Roshan de Lima and many other academics graced the inauguration ceremony. All the presenters were awarded certificates.
