The Ilankai Tamil Arusu Katchi (ITAK) has decided to hold a national convention of the party in Trincomalee on February 19 to find solutions to three major issues that have arisen in recent times. This will be the first national convention of the party to be held after the election of MP S.Sridharan as the new leader of ITAK. As a solution to the crisis that has arisen in the party regarding the appointment of S.Kugadasan as ITAK General Secretary , it was decided to give the post of General Secretary of the Party to him for the first year and to G.Srineson of Batticaloa for the second year, following a proposal by S.Sridharan.
A spokesperson of the party said that the date was set for the Party’s convention after both expressed their consent.
In order to bring together the various ideologies among the Tamil political parties regarding the provision of support in the presidential election, a discussion is also scheduled to be held at the ITAK National Convention of what path to take in this regard.
