The body of the Police Constable, who went missing after jumping into a canal near the Ja-Ela area while pursuing a suspect, had been recovered yesterday (24).
The deceased is an unmarried PC named Krishna Muthari Piradapan attached to the Ja-Ela Police station.
The incident where the police constable went missing after jumping into the canal took place on Thursday (23) afternoon, when a suspect, being chased down by a group of police officers, had jumped into the canal in a bid to evade arrest. Four police officers who chased after the suspect had also jumped into the canal, after which one of them went missing. It was later revealed that the Police officer in question had suddenly gone underwater and went missing afterwards.
His body was reportedly found yesterday near the Sedawatta Canal in the lagoon area of Pamunugama in Negombo.
