Jackson leaves a void in the world of arts

Veteran actor and media personality Jackson Anthony passed away while receiving treatment at the ICU of the Colombo National Hospital on Monday. Anthony was a pivotal character in Sri Lankan cultural history, having had a long-lasting impact. He was a true talent excelling in singing, dancing, acting, writing, and directing while seamlessly transferring from stage to movie. He used his outstanding storytelling skills to build a narrative that left a lasting effect on the minds of people.

Jackson Anthony, who delighted hundreds of Sri Lankans with his performance, was an expert in many subjects. His remains was brought to a private funeral parlour in Borella for his fans to pay their last respects. Hundreds of people of all walks of life including religious leaders and politicians paid their last respects to Anthony yesterday.

Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, former speaker Karu Jayasuriya, ministers, artistes, fans and a large number of people paid their last respects to the veteran artiste yesterday. His remains will be kept at his residence at Kadawatha today and funeral will take place at the Saints Peter and Paul Church, Ragama tomorrow .

Commenting to the media , Jackson Anthony’s daughter Madhavi Anthony said that they did everything to save their father.

Artiste Udayakantha Warnakulasuriya commenting on the demise of veteran artiste Jackson Anthony said that Anthony was not limited to one field of art and he made mark in almost all fields

He said that Anthony has shown his talents in cinema, music and stage too

“This is a sad moment for all of us. Because Jackson’s death is deeply felt in our hearts”, he said

Veteran actor Sanath Gunathilake said Jackson Anthony worked very hard during his school and university education. Also, he was fortunate to develop his knowledge by associating with very good teachers.
