Journalist and author Dambegoda Jinadasa passes away

Dambegoda Jinadasa, who was a poet, author and lyricist as well as a provincial journalist, who lived in Wellawaya Anapallama, passed away on Saturday at the age of 72.

From the age of 13, he wrote and published poems and articles for newspapers and magazines and played a great role as a literati and journalist until the time of his death.

He was engaged in the media industry for about 40 years and worked as the Wellawaya news correspondent of the Divaina newspaper for about 20 years.

He is also a recipient of the prestigious Kala Bhooshana Award.

He is the father of three, including Indika Roshan Garusinghe, who works as the Wellawaya Correspondent of Lankadeepa, Dinamina and Mawbima newspapers.

His last rites were conducted yesterday (20) at the Anapallama Public Cemetery.
