SLPP MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage said yesterday that the JVP has changed its name and symbol to hide its infamous history of human killings and bloodshed from the current generation.
He also said that the LTTE and the JVP also worked to divide the country. Therefore, these two organizations are not two but one.
He said this while participating in the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna’s Mirigama Asana Bala Mandalaya held yesterday at Mirigama Youth Resort.
We see two Presidents in the country these days. One is the President of the country Ranil Wickremesinghe. The other person is Anura Kumara Dissanayake who has become the President on Facebook. He walks and talks thinking that he is the next President.
As soon as the JVP is mentioned, people recall killings and kidnappings. Buses were set on fire. Therefore, the JVP has changed its party name and the symbol today in order to hide its disgraceful history of bloodshed from the current generation. But people in this country had not forgotten the history.
JVP is a political party of extremists and racists. In 2008, when former President Mahinda Rajapaksa had given leadership to eliminate LTTE, it was the JVP who led the way in Parliament to defeat the budget. The father of the suicide bomber in the Easter attack was on the national list of the JVP as well. Both JVP and LTTE are one and the same. Both of them wanted to divide the country.
Today Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa is helpless. Current President Ranil Wickremesinghe is the one who dilutes his party from phase to phase. After a few days, Sajith’s group will also join the United National Party.
Then we will see about the next election. If there is a Presidential Election, we will support the winning candidate. However, we will not allow what happened to former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to happen to President Ranil Wickremesinghe. We will give maximum support to President Ranil Wickremesinghe to continue the work until the end of this administration.
