The Kandy Elections Office has started an investigation regarding an incident where a group of government officials allegedly attended a meeting of the State Provincial Public Management Service Officers Association held at Pushpadana Hall in Kandy yesterday (02) under the chairmanship of NPP Executive Member K.D. Lalkantha.
The Kandy Elections Office has called for a report from the department heads to probe whether the employees of many departments of the Kandy District Secretariat have participated in this meeting after obtaining personal leave.
The people who organised the meeting have been accused of putting the people who come to get services from the government institutions into difficulty by arranging political meetings on Monday, which is a busy office day after the weekend.
The State Provincial Public Management Service Officers Association has also sent a letter requesting to approve personal leave or short leave for relevant officers to attend the meeting.
Some 200 government officials have participated in this meeting and an investigation has been started as to whether they participated in it with proper permission and approval.
