In the All island schools under 18 boys and girls hockey Tournament held at Wennappuwa, Kandy schools did well. In the boys Bowl final Vidyartha College and Christ Church College Matale ended with no score and emerged joint champions. In the shield final Kingswood College and St. Benadicts College ended in a nil all draw and were join champions. In the Girls event in the Plate final Seethadevi Balika Vidyalaya, Kandy and Janadhipathi Balika Vidyalaya, Nawala ended in nil all draw and were joint champions.

Kandy ready to host Havelocks
On Sunday the unbeaten Kandy Sports Club with four wins in same number of outings will host Havelock Sports Club in their fifth game in the first leg of the Nippon paint “A” division rugby tournament game, which will be refereed by Gehan Yatawara. Kandy’s rugby followers are looking forward to their team retaining the inter-club league rugby championship. Kandy SC which holds the top position in the eight team points table are sure to give their best and make it a winning game, the talented players are sure give their best.
Kandy SC has been a front line force on the domestic league club rugby scene from1994 and is unbeaten in the current season. The club’s Rugby Chairman Lasantha Wijesuriya contends that discipline and team-work had contributed largely to the success of Kandy SC this year as well. Kandy SC has a strong rugby tradition same with Havelock SC, both clubs have consistently produced talented players and teams. Rugby is a popular sport in at these two clubs. With a rich history that dates back from the first inter club tournament.
