Kap Situvima ceremony today for the annual Esala Maha Perahera of the Embilipitiya Sri Sankhapala Raja Maha Vihara

The Kap Situvima ceremony for the annual Esala Maha Perahera of the historical Embilipitiya Sri Sankhapala Raja Maha Vihara, will be held today (5) in the morning.

Along with the Perahara ceremony, a 30-hour Pirith chanting on September 13 and an almsgiving on September 14th have been organised.

The procession begins on September 15 with the Kumbal Perahera. The Organising Committee has made arrangements to hold the Salu Perahera on September 16, the Randoli Maha Perahera on September 17, the Ginisilu Perahera and Ginipagima on September 18, and the Maha Perahera on September 19.

According to Chief Incumbent of Sri Sankhapala Raja Maha Viharaya Ven. Kokawala Kosala Thera, the Esala festival ends with the offering of “Gammadu Santhikarma” on the September 20 and “Devadana” on September 2.
