Chilaw Marians CC prolific run getter Kasun Vidura and CCC all-rounder Ashan Priyanjan are the leading batsman and bowler in the ongoing Major club limited over cricket tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket.
Kasun Vidura the 28 year old left hander in terrific form at this tournament while scoring 542 runs in nine matches with an average of 77.42 ..He has scored two centuries and three half centuries while maintaining 84.29 strike rate. The former St Joseph Vaz player who also played for National under 19 nudged the selectors with this performance.
Meanwhile Ashan Priyanjan the 32 year old useful off spinner has the highest wickets of 28 in 9 matches with best figures 6 for 22 already having three five wicket hauls at this tournament while young leg spinner Dilum Sudeera of Tamil Union with 24 wickets, experienced Tamil Union off spinner Dilruwan Perera (23 wickets ) and two leg spinners Dhanushka Sandaruwan and BRC ‘ s Duvindu Tillekaratne both 22 wickets each are the leading bowlers of this tournament
Former Sri Lankan National Cap Sachithra Senanayake stroked a brilliant century for Navy Sports Club, steering his side to a 3-wicket victory over Ragama CC last Sunday .. Senanayake, who opened the batting for the sailors, hit 114 runs off 102 balls with 9 fours and 7 sixes at a strike rate of 111.76 proved his batting ability.
Lankan CC Skipper Rajeewa Weerasinghe’s all rounder brilliance helped his side register a 6-wicket win over Kalutara TC ,while comprehensive win from Army Cricket Club (24 points)helped them regain the top spot of Group B points table followed by CCC, Chilaw Marians CC and BRC.
The Group A points table is more competitive while Tamil Union, Moors SC and Ace Capital CC are having equal points of 21 .However Tamil Union is on top with highest net run rate 1.641 Moors 1.541 and Ace Capital CC is having 0.762.
