Kavindu Rashmika the athletic star

Seventeen year old Kavindu Rashmika, a Grade eleven student of Lexicon International School, Kandy is an outstanding athlete who got through the G.C.E.(O/L) with Nine A’s and got an opportunity to do higher studies at Dharmaraja College,Kandy. He started Athletics in the year 2016 when he was Twelve years old under the coaching of Lalith Ratnayake who had the distinction of winning a Bronze Medal for Sri Lanka at the South Asian Athletic Championship held in Madras,India in the year 1995.

Kavindu won the Under16 800 metre race setting a new record of one minute 50-40 seconds at the last Junior Nationals erasing the existing record of one minute.59-83 secds.set by Nuwan Dananjaya of Berewerts College,Ampitiya in the year 2017. Kavindu participated at the Junior John Tarbet Athletic Meet held in 2018 at the Anuradhapura Public Grounds and secured the first place in the Under 15 800 metre event and got the second place at the 400 metre race at the same Athletic Meet. After his outstanding achievements, the School authorities awarded him a Scholarship to continue with his free education and to further improve his athletic ability.

He participated at many athletic meets in the year 2019 winning most of them He is practicing in a playground near his house and he is much grateful to the Administration of the School for the encouragement given to him with regard to improving his Athletic ability and he is also a bright student who is qualified in Mathemetics and his main ambition is to do well in studies at his new School while improving his athletic ability to become a versatile National and International Athlete to bring fame to the country and to become a Doctor.
