Korea Ambassador to Sri Lanka Miyon Lee met Speaker Asoka Ranwala at the Parliament recently. Secretary General of the Parliament Kushani Rohanadeera was also present at the occasion.
The Korea’s Ambassador extended her congratulations to the newly appointed Speaker. She highlighted the longstanding relationship between South Korea and Sri Lanka and expressed her commitment to further strengthening their ties.
The Ambassador assured continued support for Sri Lanka’s development and emphasised the importance of collaborative efforts to sustain the bilateral relationship.
She also mentioned about the ongoing projects in Sri Lanka and expressed hopes to expedite their completion through discussions with the new Government. The ambassador noted that the Kandy Tunnel project is now in its final stages of commencement.
The ambassador underscored her aspirations to enhance inter-Parliamentary relations between the two countries and to implement leadership and capacity-building programmes for MPs and Parliamentary staff.
In response, the Speaker reaffirmed his commitment to advancing the strong relationship between Sri Lanka and South Korea. He conveyed his hope for continued support from South Korea in achieving these shared goals.
