When arrested by the French Police, the underworld drug trafficker Kudu Anju, who is currently in a French prison was in possession of a passport issued by the French Government to refugees, informed sources said. According to his application for asylum, the French Government had issued him the foreign passport on April 16, 2021. The foreign passport issued to him in the name of Amal Shaminda Silva is scheduled to expire on April 15, 2026. He had obtained asylum by presenting his real name and real information to the French Government. Anju was married to a white woman who claimed to be his French girlfriend when the Government issued him the foreign travel permit with asylum. She is a woman named P.Boniface.
According to sources, Kudu Anju has left his married wife in this country and has been living with this woman for four years.
Kudu Anju’s Sri Lankan wife, daughter and son are also staying in France. She is the one who had informed about Anju to the French Police. She has also made a note about this on her face book page.
A senior Police officer said that it will be a difficult task to bring Kudu Anju to Sri Lanka as he is an asylum seeker and is also married to a woman in that country.
“Since he was not present in this country when all the crimes coordinated by him were committed and also because another criminal named Alto Dharme, who is currently staying in Dubai, is also accused of the same crimes, authorities are said to be facing a stiff challenge in convincing the French authorities about Kudu Anju’s connection to those crimes,” a senior Police officer said.
Kudu Anju had tried hard to get bail through his lawyers on May 4, but his bail plea had been refused due to the information received by the French Police that he has a business and property in France under different personal names. It is said that the information about Anju’s property in that country was given to the French Police by his married wife from Sri Lanka. Information received from the country stated that there is a winery and a restaurant among the properties.
He is said to have bought the winery in another person’s name. It is said that the previous owner of the winery was a politician and businessman who had a name as a controversial politician in this country some time ago. Sources also said the restaurant is run by Kudu Anju in the name of his French wife.
Even when Kudu Anju was issued a French passport with asylum by the French Government, INTERPOL had issued a Red Notice against him. INTERPOL issued a Red Notice against Kudu Anju on February 26, 2020.
