Lanka records highest monthly arrivals after three years in June

For the first time after two years Sri Lana recorded the highest number of arrivals per month when the country attracted 143,039 tourists from July 1 to 31. This was also a 202.4% increase as against previous July 2022 which had only 47 293 arrivals.

Passing the halfway mark of the year and with a total number of arrivals of 767,913 Sri Lanka also passed the total arrivals the previous year which was 719,978. For the fifth month in succession India was the top source market for Sri Lanka accounting to 23,461arrivals which was a 16% increase as against 2022 June while the United Kingdom with 17,482 followed.

There was also a major shift in the arrivals pattern where China from the fifth position moved to be the third source market for Sri Lank sending 10,062 tourists.

Germany with 8,013 Russian Federation with 8,009 and France 7,432 5% were the fourth, fifth and sixth source destinations for Sri Lanka in July.
