Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage yesterday (05) ordered that the lawyer who was arrested by the Fraud Investigation Division and produced before the Court for allegedly preparing a deed and defrauding an amount of Rs. 7.5 million be released on strict bail conditions. The Magistrate ordered to release him on a cash bail of Rs.50,000 and two sureties of one million rupees each. The magistrate also imposed a foreign travel ban on the suspect lawyer and ordered to inform the Immigration and Emigration Controller General about it. The suspected lawyer was arrested and brought to court in connection with an investigation related to a land transaction in 2011.
