Lawyers registered their fifth consecutive win in the law medical series when they defeated doctors by one wicket in a nail biting finish to clinch the 14th Law Medical encounter played at the Colts ground on Sunday.
The lawyers were in precarious situation with seven wickets down for 77 but a 92 run eigth wicket partnership between Randeepa Wijesooriya and Shanmugapillai Jetharshan saw the lawyers reach 164/8. Randeepa scored 50 while Jetharshan scored an unbeaten 50 to see the lawyers win by one wicket. Nilupul Bimsara captured five wickets.
Electing to bat first the doctors got off to a good start with Thilina Samarasinghe and Kasun Karunarathna sharing a 74 run first wicket partnership Thilina smashed 61 runs off 35 balls with seven boundaries and three sixes. The doctors were bowled out for 191 with two balls remaining in their 40 overs. Jetharshan Shanmugampillai and Kulunu Rodrigo captured three wickets each.
