Legends of Richmond beat Thomian Masters by five wickets in their Masters 25 overs Cricket encounter played at the S. Thomas College ground Mount Lavinia recently.

Thomian Masters batting first were four wickets down for 68 runs at one stage and a fifth wicket partnership of 56 runs between Vajira Wijegoonewardena and Ramesh Wannakuwatte stroking 37 runs and 47 runs respectively and useful contributions from Sri-Lanka Masters indoor Cricketer Tiran Thenabadu and Anura Bulankulame got them to reach a reasonable target. P. Ramanayake and U. Yatawara shared the bowling honours by claiming two scalps each.

Legends of Richmond replying to Thomian Masters, openers Dilshan Amarasinghe scoring 25 runs in 19 balls and Asitha de Silva scoring 18 runs in 15 balls gave them a fine start with a 47 run partnership. Skipper Nishanths Mendis and Asoka Sirimanne contribued 12 runs and 20 runs respectively and S. Jayasekera playing a good innings stroking a fluent 35 runs in 27 balls took past the winning target in 19.1 balls.

The main attention of the spectators at this match was Thomian Masters was short of a player and invited Mahesha De Silva, a former national tennis champion and an ex Bishopian to play for this match, incidentally she was the first female player to play a cricket match at the old S Thomas College ground.
