Pivithuru Hela Urumaya leader Udaya Gammanpila says he plans to publish a book about the cases against him after being acquitted in a second case over the alleged misuse of company shares belonging to Australian businessman Brian Shaddick.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Gammanpila said he would publish the book, titled “Mage Awanaduwa” (“My grievance”), to explain what he described as the misuse of the law by politicians, some police officers and officials of the Attorney General’s Department.
He said the two cases related to the same share transaction and were filed to harass him. Gammanpila was acquitted in a related case in March 2025.
Gammanpila said he had endured 11 years of proceedings and spent 13 days in remand custody. He also thanked the lawyers who represented him without charge. (Newswire)
