The government has taken measures to increase the Mahapola scholarship premium from April 2025.
Speaking to the media yesterday at the Government Information Department Cabinet Spokesman Mass Media Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardhana said that the Cabinet approval has been granted to increase the Mahapola scholarship premium to Rs.7,500 and bursary premium to 6,500 from April 2025.
Mahapola scholarship premium and Bursary premium given to university students have not been increased since 2015 and attention of the Cabinet of ministers has been drawn to the necessity of revising the Mahapola scholarship premium and Bursary premium by a joint proposal presented by the Education and Trade, Commerce and Food Security Ministers.
