Two bodies have been recovered on Wednesday (15) after a father and his four sons were caught in a drowning incident in the Mahaweli River near the Verugal Aru bridge.
The incident occurred on Tuesday (14) when the group had gone for a river bath, during which the father and four sons were swept away.
The father and one son survived, while three others went missing at the time.
Two of the missing individuals were found dead on Wednesday, and search operations are continuing for the remaining person.
The victims, aged 34 and 35, were among four sons who had returned home for the Sinhala and Tamil New Year from Colombo, where they were employed. (Newswire)
