Main suspect in kerosene throwing incident at Ampitiya hospitalised

The main suspect involved in the setting fire to a 16-year-old school student at Mee Kanuwa, Ampitiya, Kandy after dousing her with kerosene has been admitted to the Kandy National Hospital for treatment due to a fracture in his leg.

When the Police went to arrest the suspect with the help of villagers, he had attempted to flee the scene, fallen in the process and fractured his leg, Police said.

The suspect, B. G. Sanjeewa alias Pathum who is under treatment in Ward No. 24 at the Kandy National Hospital had been seen by the Magistrate of Kandy who had come to the hospital.

Subsequently, he was remanded for a period of 12 days.

The suspect is receiving treatment under prison guard.
