The Irrigation Department has issued a major flood warning to people living in the low-lying areas of wa, Diwulapitiya, Meerigama, Pannala, Wennappuwa, Negambo, Katana, Narammala and Dankotuwa D/S Divisions due to the rise in the water level of Maha Oya.
A very high rainfall has been occurred in most of Upstream and Middle Reach catchment areas of Maha Oya basin.
Accordingly, the Irrigation Department had requested the public to be vigilant and immediately evacuate if signs of floods appeared.
