The Mahanayake of the Malwatte Sect of the Siyam Nikaya Most Ven. Thibbotuwave Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Thera told visiting Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman that they appreciate the support of the Indian Government extended to Sri Lanka to receive the second tranche of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) loan.
The Prelate said that the entire Sri Lankan people should pay gratitude to the Indian Finance Minister for her support in representing Sri Lanka and presenting facts to the IMF.
The Mahanayaka Thera expressed these views when the Indian Finance Minister visited the Malwatte Maha Vihara yesterday morning (1). “In the face of the economic crisis, the Government of India has always supported Sri Lanka as a brotherly country by providing loans and Sri Lankans expect the same cooperation in the future,”the Mahanayaka Thera said. Sitharaman said that India will always support Sri Lanka, as a brother. The Mahanayake Most Ven.Thibbottuwave Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Thera presented a Buddha Statue to the Indian Finance Minister.
