The Jaffna Police officers arrested a person who bit the hand of a police officer who was assigned to the Theru festival held at Nallur Kovil and ran away yesterday (14).
A Police Sergeant attached to the Pudukudiirippu Police station was bitten on the hand and he was admitted to the Jaffna hospital for treatment.
Police said that a large number of people are participating in the Theru festival held at the Nallur Kovil these days. Police said that only pilgrims and Theru carts were allowed to pass through the Municipal road barricade to enter the temple.
The injured officer was on duty yesterday (14) at this roadblock. When a person came to travel on a motorcycle through that roadblock, this officer blocked the motorcycle’s journey and said that he could not allow him to enter. Police said that the motorcyclist bit the officer’s right arm below the elbow. Police said that the suspect fell and he left the motorcycle and ran away.
Police said that the suspect was identified and arrested from the motorcycle’s registration details. The person is a resident of Kodikamam.
