An accused who was found guilty for possessing and peddling over 78.570 grams of heroin was yesterday sentenced to life imprisonment by the Colombo High Court.
Following a lengthy trial, Colombo High Court Judge Manjula Thilakarathne observed that the prosecution has proved the charges beyond reasonable doubt against the accused.
Considering the evidence that transpired during the Trial, the Colombo High Court Judge sentenced him to life imprisonment.
The Attorney General had filed an indictment against the accused for possessing and trafficking of 78.570g grams of heroin. The accused was arrested with the heroin at Mattakkuliya area on March 26 in 2016 by the Wellawatta District Anti-Corruption unit.
