Sellaiah Selladorai, the main suspect in the incident of making a phone call to the police emergency department about the presence of a bomb in the Kandy Court complex, has been remanded until August 2.
Police investigation revealed that the suspect had given this fake information to the police using a mobile phone number of a friend on July 2 with the aim of delaying a pending case against him.
The suspect, a resident of Ginigathhena had stolen a friend’s SIM card, inserted it into his mobile phone and had placed the relevant call.
The registered owner of the phone number was arrested and after investigations it was revealed that he was not directly related to it and the police managed to confirm the owner of the phone through the EMI number used to make the call.
