Manpower agencies are earning a buck carting crowds to rallies – Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe

Presidential Candidate Dr. Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, PC, said that election campaigning has now become a profitable business and manpower agencies have been formed to bring crowds to meetings based on the needs of various parties and candidates. The former Minister noted this when he called on the Chief Prelate of the Malwathu Chapter in Kandy.

He said that according to the required number of people for a meeting by organizers, whether it is 1000, 2000 or 3000, when the money is given to those agencies, they will bring the number of people required in buses to the place of the meeting at the specified time.

“There are several packages. Around Rs. 1,500 to Rs. 3,000 is charged to bring one person to the meeting ground. The amount charged varies depending on the number of hours, the number of people required for the meeting, and the location of the meeting,” he said.

He also said that it is by paying for these agencies that some parties show the country that there is a wave of support for them.
