Mathews' 100th Test at Galle

Sri Lanka Cricket in consultation with the Pakistan Cricket Board has decided to shift the 2nd Test Match from R. Prermadasa International cricket stadium Colombo to Galle International Cricket Stadium.

The second Test is scheduled to be held from July 24 to 28 which will be the fourth back to back Test match at Galle.(Two Australia Test matches and two Pakistan Test matches). This is the first time Galle Cricket Stadium will conduct four back to back Test matches. The second Test against Pakistan is going to be a special one for Angelo Mathews as his 100th Test. Mathews the 35 year old experienced batter has played 99 tests scoring 6876 runs with 13 centuries and 38 half centuries.

According to a senior SLC official, SLC arrived at this venue change decision in order to ease out the logistical challenges faced by the stakeholders in carrying out tour related operations, due to the prevailing situation in the country.

Meanwhile Sri Lanka Cricket also officially announced about the third edition of the LPL which is scheduled to be held from August 1 was postponed and most probably it will be held next December (after the T- 20 World Cup).

The senior official of the SLC said SLC is keen to hold forthcoming tournaments but we have to get decisions after discussing with the Government.

Meanwhile regarding the latest development of the Asia Cup, SLC official pointed out by July 22nd we hope to receive the final decision about the hosting venue of the Asia Cup. At the moment Sri Lanka is the first choice for Asia Cup while two additional venues UAE and Bangladesh being next in line.

Meanwhile SLC already take decision to conduct domestic tournaments as schedule. The present Major club limited over cricket tournament will continue this week.
